Namaste Crazy Lassi log, when are you going to conjugate the verbs? That is the only thing missing from your great blog. Thanks Kay.

Hello Kay, thanks so much for your comment! I am working on the verb conjugation and we'll post them shortly (after 1-2 weeks). Sorry for my blog being so incomplete until now.

At last I have found a site that does Hindi Grammar!! All that seems to be out there are sites that just do words and a few phrases. Having lived in India for 6 months I am more advanced then that and this site is just great, I can now start tto construct proper sentences, instead of just talking about the weather etc.Thank you so much, keep up the great work!!!

Since I've found this site I happen to spend most of my time on it -- very, very valuable and delightful information to be found here! kudos & thanks!

however, the aspect most glossaries of verbs usually omit is the verbs' transitivity, i.e. ergativity. In order to construct correct perfective verbs in the simple past tense one needs to know when to use the ergative case (only with transitive verbs and an object expressed). Hence my wish would be to add, say, a capital 'E' ('Ergativity') to the Hindi verb if it will ALWAYS use the ने-construction in the past tense and a minuscule 'e' if it only uses ने occasionally (i.e. समझना 'to understand') while intransitive verbs either have no further information or are marked 'intr' etc.. At the same time there are verbs like लाना 'to bring' which are transitive but never use ने and its construction. Using 'N' instead of 'E' would also work. For compound verbs using करना (transitive) or होना (intransitive equivalent) this may be obvious, but otherwise a verb's transitivity/ergativity isn't always clear from its structure alone (i.e. झूलना 'to swing' has both variations and the ने-construction only applies to the transitive use) and it would be best to learn both the verb and its transitivity together. I know, rigmarole, but perhaps worth the job ;)

anyway, mega thanks for this blog, i highly appreciate it!
